One day when sharing stories about our pets while talking with my Aunt Laurie on the phone, a lightbulb finally went on over our blonde heads!!! It is time to expand the pet sitting business to Texas. After all, our love for our animals is as big as our state!
Like my Aunt Laurie and my cousin Amy, I have always had a special place in my heart for all creatures. I was raised in Maryland and spent my childhood with hamsters, cats, birds, and at one point, even a chinchilla! When my husband and I moved to Texas in 1994, we'd barely unpacked the boxes in our apartment when we became involved with the cat rescue organization Texas Cares, fostering rescued felines. It was such a great feeling to be involved in the process of finding abandoned and neglected cats good homes, and a perk to get to care for and love them all in the process :)
By 2000, our lives and hearts had grown by two little girls, a rescued cat, two rescued ferrets, and a guinea pig. Fast forward to 2009, and our family now includes two new giunea pigs - Latte and Oreo, a gerbil - Ginger, our rescued cat - Gracie, a fish tank full of Oscars and Cichlids, and a beautiful rescued pitbull named Lady. Lady is just sure she is one of the kids. Her favorite activities include playing chase and ball with the neighborhood children on our front lawn. My Lady is my heart. She does everything with me, and is such a gentle soul that EVERYONE loves her. I love her so much I let that 120 lb ball of beautiful fur sleep with me every night. Like Buddy, she was neglected when we rescued her. My mom recently saw "Marley and Me", and said Marley reminded her of Lady, lol. She also says she hopes Lady lives forever, because we are so close she knows my life will be forever altered without her. Sometimes you will even find Ginger on her back - her favorite place to nestle. Then when you are ready to rest make sure to stretch out, because Gracie is sure to be there within minutes to curl up on your neck and chest. Our pets add so much to our lives in so many ways.
My love of animals makes this job such a fun and natural fit. I can hardly believe I get to love and take care of animals for a living. So when you have to be away for a while, don't worry because I promise to love them when you leave them.
